We at AIP extend our warmest condolences to the victims, as well as the family and friends of victims, impacted by the M 9.1 earthquake which struck the Tohoku area of Japan on March 11.

We would like to present here the messages we received from our panelists and the results of surveys we conducted after the March 11 earthquake. We would also like to tell you about the donations AIP and our panel members have made to the relief effort.

Through AIP ONLINE SURVEYS, we gathered messages from our panelists for victims of the Tohoku earthquake. Below please find the warm wishes we received from panelists across 14 countries/regions.

AIP ONLINE SURVEYS members donated points (from March 18 to April 30). On May 30, AIP transferred the contributions from our members to victims of the earthquake through the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Between April 9 and April 30, we conducted a survey of members of AIP ONLINE SURVEYS about the earthquake. We bring you the results below.

Q1. From what kind of source did you first learn about this disaster?

・Respondents in most countries found out about the earthquake through "television," with "internet (news site)" being the next most frequent response. In China and Vietnam, those who chose "internet (news site)" outnumbered those who chose "television."

Q2. How interested are you in information about the earthquake?


・When we asked respondents "how interested they are in the earthquake," in every country, more than 80% of respondents said they were "very interested" or "somewhat interested," revealing their great consideration for the earthquake.


Q3. Which of the following situations are you most interested in following?


・When asked which situations they are most interested in following, many respondents chose "damage in disaster-stricken areas" and "the developing situation at the nuclear power plant." The number of respondents who chose "the developing situation at the nuclear power plant" was higher for countries near Japan geographically..
